Who Is Brigade Electronics?

Chris Hanson-Abbott founded Brigade Electronics in 1976 after hearing the distinctive warning sound of a reversing truck on the streets of Tokyo. At the time, reversing safety had received little attention outside Japan, while vehicle accidents were causing serious loss of life in the United Kingdom. With support from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), Brigade introduced its first reversing alarm at the 1976 Commercial Vehicle Show in London. Adoption was slow, but Chris continued to advocate for safer roads and worksites and for regulations that would make safety systems standard. Today, driving safety systems are an essential requirement for commercial vehicles and machinery. Brigade continues to combine decades of application knowledge with its founding purpose: preventing accidents and saving lives.
